Final Tweaks

>> Thursday, April 3, 2014

Ah, sorry to be a little off my game this week with regard to recipes. As I mentioned yesterday, very little cooking has been going on in our kitchen this week. Just wanted to report that -- with your help -- we finished our kitchen project for a grand total of $550.

I don't love hate spending all that money, but I think it's a huge change that might make the difference between selling or not.

Here's the new before // after:

And the after after . . .

In addition to everything we did already, we replaced the ceiling fan with a basic white one. We removed the dishwasher to free up cabinet space (and stowed it in the basement -- it will be included with the sale). Then I found a small white kitchen cart -- and assembled it during Ada's nap. The whole two hours (fun...).

It's whitewashed + more universally appealing now. It's more spacious. Less cluttered. Unblocked. And also -- like -- really, really not fun to cook in. Everything feels so awkwardly far apart. I've packed a lot of my favorite tools away. The lighting is different without that ugly lamp over the sink. But at least it's pretty? I guess we'll see how "fast" we sell.

All that's left to do is repair the drawer that was behind the dishwasher. Then we'll call it done! I know this selling thing could still be a llllllong process, but I'm certain without doing what we did . . . we wouldn't have stood a chance. Thanks for reading yet another day of random chatter from me. I'll be back with something yummy very soon.

Promise. (Thanks again for your help!!!)
