Thanks for your kind feedback on my first video post of the new year. I can’t wait to do this week’s -- it’s a goodie! Anyway, onto week 16. I downloaded this app a while back called Sprout Pregnancy. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I looked down at my little virtual fetus and it said 16 weeks.
Well, actually, I totally can believe I’m this far along.
A lot of women told me my second pregnancy would breeze by and go so fast. Honestly? It’s been a lot like my pregnancy with Ada. Crawling. I’m not complaining, but I will say now that some of my anxiety is lifting, I do at least feel like things will speed up.
My appointment Friday was, in a word, routine. I peed in a cup. We listened to the heartbeat. I asked 5,000 questions about being GBS positive (I’ll get to this in another update). Then I made my next two appointments. The first is the anatomy scan when I hit 18 weeks. The second is my 20-week prenatal with my midwife. She’s given me the option to come in for ultrasounds and appointments on the same day, but I’ve enjoyed going to the office more frequently, so I’ve kept them staggered.
I looked back on my updates with Ada. At week 16, I had “finally” given in to the comfort of maternity clothes. Uh, this time? I’ve been wearing them almost all along. I have a lot of normal stuff still in the rotation, but why not break out the stretchy pants?
My midwife said I can use my Doppler whenever I need reassurance. Though I feel movement, I still like to hear the heartbeat once a day. Occasionally I’ll do it twice. There’s a lot of information out there about if this is safe or not, but my midwife said it’s totally fine.
We will be sharing the sex of the baby. (I’m still feeling girl!) We will not be sharing the name. In fact, I’m not planning to share what names we’re considering anymore with family and friends for the most part. Already getting too many opinions. It’s our choice.
I haven’t gotten physically sick in over a week. Score!
I didn’t have any Braxton Hicks last week! Not a single one. I am hoping the car stuff was just isolated. I feel like being pregnant in winter may help. Less activity. Less heat and humidity. At least I keep telling myself that it will be better this time around.
The baby just kicked me. In fact, he/she kicks a lot. Sometimes I put Ada’s hand on my belly and she always jumps with glee and says she feels the baby kicking. I know it isn’t true, but I let her pretend.
Last week’s workouts:
- M: 3 mile treadmill jog
- T: Rest (sick)
- W: 45 min treadmill walk/jog (5 min walk, 10 min run)
- R: 45 min treadmill walk
- F: 3 mile treadmill jog + 10 min walk
- S: 30 min treadmill walk/jog (5 min run, 5 min walk)
- S: 3.5 mile jog (outside!) + 1 mile cool down walk
Most of my workouts are between 30 and 45 minutes. This is a sweet spot where I get lots of good sweat going but still feel energized afterward. I do think something is up with our treadmill, though. I can jog comfortably at a 5 to 5.2 on it, but no faster. We went to another gym over Christmas and I was doing more like 6 on that one. My outdoor pace is also around 10 minutes per mile.
This week I want to do less running/walking and more yoga/Barre.
Weight: 141 at doctor’s office on Friday
Next ultrasound: January 26th!
Baby is size of: Avocado. One of my favorites.
Cravings: Ben + Jerry’s chocolate fudge brownie ice cream, homemade bagels + hummus
When I’ll stop baby aspirin: 22 weeks
Latest purchase: Fisher-Price Rock ’n Play for naps + lounging
What Ada wants to name the baby: Emma or Elias
